Horror Genre Essay Horror Genre Films are unsettling films that are created to frighten and panic the audience. They are there to invoke our hidden worst fears yet entertaining the audience. They deal with our most undiscovered fears, our nightmares, and our vulnerability, our terror of the unknown, our fear of death or our loss of identity. Watching a horror film gives an opening into the scary world, into a passage for the essence of fear itself, but not really being in danger. Common story lines and plots that writers create when making a movie are the common clichà ©s all horror movies will generally have. Like parents never understanding the child when something is about to happen, or when the character is home alone they will call out to see if anybody is there. Most horror movies include mythical creatures such as ghosts, vampires, and zombies. A horror movies tradition is to include a large amount of violence and gore into the plot. Though the genre has its own style, Horror film often overlap into Thriller and Science-Fiction genre (Alien, 1979).
